At De Alba Communications, we believe real change happens when community needs meet legislative action. Led by Victoria Sanchez De Alba, our civic engagement services are designed to ensure that the voices of multicultural communities and non-profits aren’t just heard—they’re acted upon.
Our work is rooted in results—from advocating for affordable housing for farmworker families in Half Moon Bay, San Francisco, and families in Oakland, and elevating local concerns to the state level, to authoring a statewide COVID-19 resolution protecting essential farmworkers, securing $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act “hero pay” for low-income essential workers in San Mateo County. We also convene historic roundtables and public summits that brought farmworkers face-to-face with elected officials, including following the 2023 Half Moon Bay mass shooting, which left seven farmworkers dead and exposed the deplorable living conditions that agricultural workers and their families have endured for decades. Through these efforts, we consistently turn community needs into actionable policy solutions and measurable impact.
Our Mission
To empower non-profits by amplifying their stories, highlighting challenges, and facilitating the high-level connections necessary to solve systemic issues.
What We Do
We don’t just “send press releases”—we build movements. Our civic engagement strategy focuses on three core pillars:
- Legislative Advocacy & Liaison: We represent your organization to local, state, and federal officials, ensuring your priorities are understood and recognized by those shaping policy.
- Strategic Storytelling: We translate the complex work of non-profits into compelling narratives that resonate with civic leaders. By highlighting your impact and clearly presenting community needs, we ensure your organization’s contributions are visible and your priorities cannot be overlooked.
- Community Mobilization: We organize events and forums that bring decision-makers directly to the front lines, giving them a first-hand view of your impact.
A Proven Track Record of Action
Civic engagement is more than conversation—it’s about results. At De Alba Communications, our advocacy has led to real, measurable change:
- Affordable Housing: Advocated for farmworker families in Half Moon Bay, San Francisco, and Oakland, elevating local concerns to state decision-makers and driving accountability around housing compliance.
- COVID-19 Protection: Authored a statewide resolution protecting essential farmworkers, ensuring this critical workforce was included in public health planning.
- ARPA “Hero Pay”: Secured $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds for low-income essential workers in San Mateo County.
- Historic Roundtables & Summits: Convened events connecting farmworkers and their families directly with elected officials to address urgent issues such as clean water, healthcare access, and humane housing, including in the wake of the 2023 Half Moon Bay tragedy.
Through these efforts, we turn community needs into actionable policy solutions, tangible resources, and measurable impact.
